What a joy to serve on the staff of St. Timothy’s since March of 2003, in a ministry with a parish that God has so bountifully gifted. The more-than 960 members of St. Timothy’s are talented and willing ministers who share their gifts with great enthusiasm and commitment. They are eager to seek deeper knowledge of God in a variety of Christian Formation offerings. They are generous in supporting a large array of outreach projects. We celebrate fellowship together with warm friendship. Children and Youth are cherished not as the “future” of the Church but as the treasure they bring to the Church everyday. And, although we are a large church, St. Timothy’s people continue to be compassionate and conscientious in their pastoral care for each other.
The vibrancy of this church is overwhelming to me. New ministries are popping up monthly, and because of the diversity and magnitude of them, lay leadership and involvement becomes essential. And so, as a priest at St. Timothy’s, I am blessed to be able to exercise my call to the people of God – to assist in their discernment of gifts and ministry, to prepare them with Christian Formation, and to nourish them with Word and Sacrament in joyful worship. Our shared ministry is the power of the Gospel at work at St. Timothy’s and in the community.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon your servants the forgiveness of sin, and have raised us to the new life of grace. Sustain us, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give us an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen
